LLC Milestone Friday – Let’s Party!!

Jennifer Lopez – On the Floor

Yes, it’s time for our Milestone Party again! So get down on the floor and dance the night away!

The Life List Club has enjoyed an amazing 9 months. We’ve met so many new friends and Partyinghave been steadily growing! We all are doing well on our life lists and hope to encourage you to keep on working at yours.

We have exciting news!

The Life List Club will have it’s own blog! We thought it would much easier for all of our readers to follow our LLC posts  if we created a new schedule and format. LLC, beginning Wednesday, April 4th, will post on Wednesday’s and Friday’s every week.

No more blog hopping! You can find all your favorite LLC authors in one location. If you miss a post, it’s easy to search an author‘s archived posts and catch up.

We have a new author! Sherry Isaac has just joined our Club and will kick off the new blog with her first post on April 4th! Please stop in to welcome her!

On to my progress report:

1. Finish my short story anthology and self-publish it, as well as publishing the stories individually. Then complete my novel and publish. I now have scheduled time to write that I will protect with my life!

2. Continue to participate in ROW80 and check-in every Sunday. Yes, yes, yes!

3. Motivate at least 10 ROW80 pals every week. Yes, every Sunday!

4. Get my butt out of my desk chair for at least 15 minutes every 2 hours. Got this covered!

5. Take at least 2 more online classes to improve my writing. Have taken 2 and am taking one more in April.

6. Allow myself only 8 hours a week to read blogs and keep up with social media marketing. This is working. The time is split up into 3 days each week.

7. Attend a writer’s conference or workshop and join a writer’s organization. Joining RWA in April.

8. Learn how to create podcasts, videos and a book trailer for my blog site. Not yet, but soon.

9.Create a business-like schedule for writing, blogging and social media. DONE!

10.Read 25 books in the next 12 months. Have read 19 books and am on track!

11. Get moving! Exercise at least 30 minutes 5 days a week.  Getting back to my exercise routine in April that sadly lapsed in March.

12. Feed my addiction to chocolate, daily. :) Limit total daily sugar allowance to 1 ounce of dark chocolate. DONE!

13. Add more fruits and vegetables into my diet. Increasing them every week and actually eating them!

14. Lose at least 35 lbs, in order to get off all my meds, about 3 pounds a month. This has been a major struggle and will be consulting my doctor in April to figure out why.

15. Get back to the routine of cleaning bathrooms and dusting weekly, instead of pushing it off on my honey. DONE!

16. Create a few 30 minute pockets of time each day to spend alone with my hubs. Everyday!

17. Remember to thank my husband everyday for his constant love and support. Daily!

18. Find time to get back to painting chairs and selling them. Trying to figure out when I can work this in.

19. Clean attic and basement of all unnecessary items ans sell them. Plans to begin in 3 weeks are in place.

20. Eat more slowly. Practice. Still practicing.

21. Floss everyday. Getting much better at this. See? 😀

22. Play. As often as I can.

23. Live in the moment. Definitely!

24. Notice the little things and appreciate them. Absolutely!

25. Take more photographs. Will embark on a daily photo, as inspired by Tameri Etherton.

I’ve revised my list for this progress update. I removed some of things that I have accomplished and added a few new goals. 18 out of 25 goals achieved on this list, as well as a few more that I removed as completed. I feel good about my progress and some new positive habits I’ve developed. though, I do still have work to do!

I’ve learned a few things that might help you, too, if you’re having a tough time with any of your goals:

* I used to feel as though I should be at my desk every spare minute getting writing/business work done. I know now that I have to get out of the house more to get inspired by people, nature and my surroundings. Take photos, paint my chairs, read more.

* Exercise really helps make everything flow well, especially ideas. ;)

* I may have been addicted to sugar, but now I have it under control. It was just a matter of creating a new, better habit: no baking except for rare special occasions; get hubby to do the grocery shopping and be my partner in avoiding sugar; get busy doing other fun things that will act as a reward for giving up most white stuff (sugars, white flour, white rice, white potatoes).

* Setting aside two days a week exclusively for writing is working so far.

* Breaking bad habits is so much harder than making them. Note to self: Don’t create bad habits anymore.

To thank all of you for your support for the last 9 months, all of us writers have prizes to give away!

Here’s the list of all the prizes you could be eligible for when you visit all the writers’ blogs:

  1. I love the layout and style of the LLC’s new website, Marcia! And I can’t wait to check out the newest members blog – looking forward to getting to know you, Sherry! Congrats on all the progress you’ve made in your goals, Marcia – you continue to be an inspiration to me : )

  2. My difficulties with getting to WP websites has something to do with my gravatar – I’ve figured that much out! I’m so happy you are doing well with so many of your goals. Your list may be long, but it’s well-rounded, for sure 🙂 Onward to the next three months, for many more successes!

  3. I fixed it! Your list is long, but fabulously well-rounded. I love #21! Congrats on all the successes. You know what they say, once we have momentum, there’s no stopping us!

  4. I love the idea of having all of the LLC posts in just one spot! Looking forward to reading them.

Your goal list is impressive. You are so well organized, Marcia. The photography is a big part of my life as well. And so is chocolate 🙂

    • Thanks, Angela! You take gorgeous pictures! I’m not as good, but keep trying to get better at it and I do enjoy it. Chocolate is now considered a healthy food, in moderation. No more guilt about eating it! YAY!

    • Thanks so much, August! The change to a new blog will be better for writers and readers with the bonus of easily taking on new writers and room for guest posts. So, whenever you’d like to jump in for a day, we have Mondays reserved for that.
I actually have always loved most veggies and all fruits, but i got so hooked on sugar that I didn’t look for the healthy stuff anymore. I’m still developing the habit of eating the good foods and not letting them spoil, but I feel so much better. Thanks.

  5. Marcia, if anyone can work that list, you will! I’m a chocoholic too and have a piece of it every single day. I find that knowing my “treat” is there keeps me from obsessing about it. I hope that works for you too! Congratulations on the new LLC blog. I believe Sherry Isaac lives in Toronto so I may actually get to meet one of you in person! Onward!

    • Yes, Sherry does live there! It would be so great for you two to get together! I appreciate the kind words and support, Patricia. And, yes, knowing get to have my chocolate treat at the end of the day is comforting and all I need.

    • It’s not as bad as it looks, Amy! I always throw in some easy goals so there’s never a reason to feel like a failure. I can definitely meet some if not all on any given day. Thanks for coming by!

  6. What an awesome party! I love that LLC will have it’s own home, so to speak. One place where we can find all of you and all the super fab info you share. Your goals are amazing. I’m taking notes and working on my own for this year. You’re always an inspiration, Marcia! Thanks for sharing this journey with us.

    • Thanks, Tameri! It’s friends like you who keep me going! Good for you on your own goals! Feel free to share them with LLC if you want. You’ll have tons of support, for sure!

  7. What you wrote about not feeling like you needed to be working every spare minute and the importance of getting out to find inspiration really struck home with me. I’m a workaholic by nature. I feel guilty when I’m not doing something “productive.” But that’s often lead to burnout in the past so one of the things I’m consciously trying to do is find that proper work-play balance.

    • Aww, Marcy. It’s so nice to know we’re not alone in some of these feelings, isn’t it? It’s very hard to create the balance, but what is working for me is setting aside a day to do one thing. One day for social media (2 x a week), one day for writing (2x a week), one day for cleaning and other chores, one day for getting out with my hubs away from the laptop. I do try to fit in a little exercise most days and respond to comments on my blog as they come in. I also go out of town one day every other week to see family and friends.
Good luck with it…you’ll find what works for you. 🙂

  8. Hi Marcia, J-Lo music is a great way to jump start any party! Nice to see so many familiar faces. Looks like you’re going to have your hands full with all your new goals. Thanks for keeping our crazy bunch of bloggers together. (We’re all crazy in a good way.) I Can’t wait for us to start posting on the new blog.

    • I can’t wait either, Gary. Yeah, we’re all crazy in our own special way and maybe that’s why we works so well together. I love all of you and am so happy to be working with everyone!

  10. I always love your LLC posts, Marcia! They get me dancing around my kitchen and they make Baby Girl laugh hysterically. 🙂 Congrats on your goals. Thanks to all of you for helping me stay focused on the process!!

    • LoL, Jenny! We’re a great team and we do a wonderful job of keeping each other on track! When I see how all of you younger women have on your plates and still accomplish a ton of stuff every week, I wonder if i could have done as well when I had small kids and a job outside my home.
I’m just dying to see that baby girl of yours and hear her laugh! Maybe you should do a podcast of Baby Girl laughing or baby talking and post on your pregnancy post day! She’s the reward for all you went through! I think that would be cool…just sayin’.

    • Thanks, David. You’re one of our greatest supporters. And there’s never any squabbling between me and my awesome partner, Jess. We work very well together and complement each other’s personalities and schedules.

  12. You’re rockin’ it Marcia! What a great list of goals and milestones. I like your no more than eight hours on social media — I try to set a time each day but I think it might work better to do it in three days as you do. I always learn something from the Life List Club member, I can’t wait until you start the new blog!

    • Thanks, Kate! Taming the SM monster is not an easy thing. It was easier giving up sugar! 2 days are for reading blogs, commenting, tweeting, etc and one day is for my ROW80 pals. The only social media I allow all the time is responding to comments on my blog and hitting Triberr every morning for about 10 minutes.
Thanks for your support of the LLC, Kate!

  13. What balance, Marcia! I think giving in to your chocolate addiction, partnered with a responsible limit, is so dang smart. You won’t gorge because you’ve done without. It’s a monster you live with, you’ve acknowledged the monster, and learned that feeding the monster regularly keeps him under control.

    • 🙂 I am a chocolate monster…and yes, I have it under control, finally. That’s not to say I couldn’t still devour a whole box of chocolate covered cherries in one sitting. I choose not to have them, or any other confection that’s “dangerous”, in the house. I also have made the choice to be healthier. Talking about it on my blog and being in the challenge with Gene has helped enormously in developing good habits! Thanks, Sherry.

  14. It’s hilarious how I almost used that exact song by Jennifer Lopez! I told you I was a fan. But I think you’ll still like what I have in store for my Milestone party. 😉

Awesome job with your goals Marcia! You are the Queen of Accomplishments today! Best partner ever! Can’t wait to see your photography!

  15. wow! looks like you got lots going on and are kicking some serious butt! And you are right.. it is waaaay harder to break bad habits.. but I did read somewhere it takes three days to make or break one. After that it is all in the mind..
Have a great Friday! 😀 your teethies look fantabulous!

  16. I love to see No. 18 being fulfilled. You are so talented in that aspect. I loved the chair you made me many years ago and was quite the conversation topic in my garden. All of your goals are great goals and one by one you can knock ’em off!

I love it when you tell me what you think!
