ROW80 2/26/12 Update

Hi fellow ROWers!

Oh, what a week!

I feel like a total slacker in the writing arena. I just couldn’t seem to find the time to write on my stories. Everything I did took a lot more time that I’d expected. I guess that’s going to happen sometimes. *Putting on my Big Girl panties and getting over it*

Have a look at my progress. Updates are in pink:

  1. Continue with my 13-month Health Challenge. Read about that HereI posted new goals for the 60 days from February 1st to March 31st in #Hotwriterbods Health Challenge, but I just made a slight change. Instead of working with weights 3 times a week for 30 minutes, I’m going 2 times a week for 60 minutes each. I’m still on track and have 15 walks in so far for the month and loving the weight workouts. Check out more details on my health challenge in yesterday’s post, #HotWriterBods Health Challenge Update #3.
  2. Write on my projects – 4-5 days per week for a weekly total of 2,500 words. No word count on my stories this week.
  3. Streamline my social media and support efforts so that I visit all my blogger friends and ROW80 friends over the course of each week. Tweeting, also, for my friends to help promote their workI’m doing well and trying to stay on top of the blog reading – promoting is on track. Promo tweets are in good shape but social tweets were nonexistent this week. Pinterest is working well in branding me and my work. See my exciting note about it at the end of this post. I will be happy to invite anyone who may interested in joining Pinterest.

Please check out ROW80 for yourself! Creator, Kait Nolan, offers a flexible, supportive atmosphere for meeting your writing goals. There are so many awesome people involved and they make it so much fun! Meet the Sponsors, too. They are the best cheerleaders you could ever hope to have.

Quick Note: Remember my post, 16 Reasons Pinterest is Worth Your Time? Remember that I said it’s great for connecting? Well, I repinned a great quote a few days ago:

The devil and the womanGuess what happened? Over 120 people repinned it from my board to theirs! Okay, so that’s not an astronomical number, but I think it’s pretty damn cool, considering it’s more than 120 people who didn’t know I existed before last month. I’ve also gained 15 followers in a week!Pinterest is definitely worth my time!

Share with me! How was your week? Did you meet your writing goal?

  1. Hey Marcia, you’re doing fantastic on your health challenge. It’s so hard to find that balance between, life, social media and health. It’s an never-ending quest for me. I just joined Pinterest and I’ll look for you. I really haven’t done too much with it but I know I’m going to snag your quote. I love it!

  2. I hear you on the word court, but as long as you’re making progress, you’ll get there.
You’re doing awesome with your health challenge! Have you tried a step class? It’s BRUTAL.

    • Thanks, Diana. Progress is key!
I used to do step class many, many years ago. Can’t anymore. I have severe arthritis in my knees, so low impact is the way I go now. I would love to bike ride or do a spinning class, but that motion kills me. I can’t even use an elliptical anymore. The treadmill and the arc trainer are the only cardio machines I can use.

  4. Hi Marcia,

You are rockin the Health Challenge. Its inspiring to “watch” you kicking butt. You’re also a social media butterfly whose tempting everyone with Pinterest. 🙂 But being a ROW80 Sponsor, and a good e-friend, I have to say, you gotta get on your writing goals. Even if you only write 100 words, at least its progress. I think, for me personally, I fell out of my routine in November and basically my writing came to a stand still. I’m sure if you try to write at least 100 words this week, more will come. 🙂 Just a friendly nudge. Plus I’m dying to read your work!

    • Thanks for the nudge, my friend! Over the weekend, a local friend of mine gave me a real kick in the butt. She’s been where I am with writing,,,,,,, but she’s agreed to stay on me till I get my short stories done!
I almost envy all of you girls with full-time jobs, because when you have unlimited time to write, you procrastinate and let stumbling blocks discourage you. I have a new work schedule starting today and I WILL get those short stories done very soon!

      • You go Marcia!!! I’m glad I’m not the only one teaming up on you. I so know what you mean about having time and then procrastinating. I know I’ve had my fair share of free time some days (ex. a house to myself for 4 hours)…did I write? Not one word. 🙂

  5. Oh drat, you Marcia Richards! You are really tempting me with Pinterest mentions. 🙂
I must look away. . . look away. . . lol. Congrats on your success there. If I had a board, I’d re-pin that quote too. It’s fantastic, and fits you to a tee.

Love your saying about the big girl panties and your no-excuses attitude. Chin up. You’ll knock out the word count this week.

    Have a lovely week!

    • Thanks, Bridgette! I will knock it out of the park this week!
I’m sorry, this thing I have with talking about Pinterest is like waving chocolate under the nose of someone allergic to it. I’ve slapped my hand and will put up a warning when I’m about to bring it up again, so you’ll know to walk away from the post. 😀

  6. I hear you on the word count this week – I sucked hard as well. Here’s to a better week ahead for both of us.
But on the good side, you are rocking your #Hotwriterbods Health Challenge – wowzers! I love it Marcia. And GREAT info and success with pinterest – woot woot!! 🙂

  7. We all have off weeks – deep breath, chin up, move forward 🙂

I made a change to my walking, moving back to 5 a week due to ankle issues. Nothing serious, just strain from an old injury. I hope the adjustment you are making works out well for you.

Have a great week, Marcia 🙂

    • Oh, I’m sorry you’re hurtin’, Gene. Take it slow so you don’t do any real damage. It would stink to be out of commission for weeks. 5 days a week is still a great week of working out.
Thanks for the encouragement…I also got some face to face butt kicks over the weekend, so i will have a better word count this week!
