Get Moving!

This is what my husband and I tell ourselves each morning. Retirement has it’s pitfalls, believe it or not. We have all the time in the world to do ANYTHING within the realm of our finances and imaginations. Yet we find ourselves sitting too much or zoning out in front of the TV in the evening some days. We have a large house which requires regular maintenance, but the two of us don’t make much of a mess. Jim does go out to shovel most mornings and I find myself trekking up and down our three staircases to do laundry, cooking, vacuuming, etc. It’s movement,but not what we really need to stay in shape. So here’s what we’ve done…we play walking DVDs and we walk together, Jim rows on his ‘old school’ rowing machine, we both lift free weights and use resistance bands. We also have some restoration work, painting and cleaning the attic and basement to do.

It’s not an easy thing to maintain self-discipline when you can get out of bed any old time you want, and you can busy yourself reading or watching TV all day.  So, we’re crackin’ the whip because we refuse to become “OLD” before our time! I’ll keep you posted on our progress.
